The Legend of Red Klotz.
How Basketball Loss Leader Won Over The World---14,000 Times

by Tim Kelly.

Author talk and book signing on Tuesday, July 29th at 7pm in N111

Author Tim Kelly has chosen to take the writing of Red Klotz’s biography in a direction beyond

Red’s legendary losing streak. Instead, he presents the story of a first generation American

who grew up in the tough, working class neighborhoods of South Philadelphia, and, at only a

5’7”, dedicated himself to excelling in a sport dominated by giants. Red developed his trademark—

a precision two-hand set shot that some have called “the most accurate” in basketball

history. He won an NBA championship with the 1948 Baltimore Bullets, and played with and

against many of the all-time greats including Wilt Chamberlain, George Mikan, Connie Hawkins

and Marques Haynes.

Red is fond of saying, “I have run more miles on more courts in more countries than any other

human being.” Along the way Red established himself as one of the game’s great pioneers and

an American ambassador of goodwill around the world.

The Legend of Red Klotz traces the unlikely journey of basketball’s most traveled man. Despite

the numbers on the scoreboard, it is the journey of a winner.
