“How Public Schools Keep Kids in Poverty”
Is there a discrepancy in education from school to school? In our next TED talk by Kandice Sumner, entitled, “How public schools keep kids in poverty”, she discusses how schools in low-income neighborhoods across the US lack resources that are standard at wealthier schools — things like musical instruments, new books, healthy school lunches and soccer fields — and this has a real impact on the potential of students. Kandice sees the disparity every day in her classroom in Boston, and in this inspiring talk, she asks us to face facts — and change them.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the TED talks feature experts in a variety of fields who present unique ways of looking at their respective fields of expertise.
Everyone is welcome to these free sessions.
A discussion will take place after the lecture.
