Home-Grown, Born and Bred

Jazz in Ocean City: A Concert Series

Michael Pedicin, chair of education for the South Jersey Jazz Society, will present the series. All of our events will feature musicians who were born in either Cape May or Atlantic county.

Some of the featured musicians still live here, and some have taken up residence in New York or Philadelphia...never losing or leaving their connection to their seashore roots.

APRIL 24th: We will feature a talented Ocean City native and recent (March '16) national Jazz chart #1 artist, Saxophonist Ken Fowser and his quartet, with Jason Tiemann, drums; Tyler Mitchell, bass; and Steve Einerson, piano.

MAY 1st: We will feature a quintet of jazz musicians, all of whom grew up right here at the shore: Joe Breidenstine, trumpet; Tamara deMent, violin; Chris Simonini, piano; Rich Kurtz, bass; and Bob Shomo, drums.

May 8th: We will feature a quartet with Michael Pedicin, saxophone (Philadelphia/Linwood); Doug Martin, drums (Northfield); Bob Ferguson, trumpet (Linwood); Chris Simonini, organ (Vineland). A special tribute and jazz composition dedicated to Mother's Day will be performed!

All concerts are free and will be held at 2:00 pm in the Chris Maloney Lecture Hall of the Ocean City Free Public Library.
