A Two-Part Class Covering The Beatles Phenomenon
Hosted by Bob DelBene
November 2nd & November 9th
6:30pm, Children’s Activity Room
Ocean City Public Library
In these two gatherings Bob DelBene will take you through a step-by-step survey
of the Beatles phenomenon as it unfolded between the years 1960 and 1970.
The first week we'll look at the rock scene as it existed when the Beatles formed. Then, using guitar and audio samples, we'll demonstrate the Lennon/McCartney endless song-writing innovations. We’ll go through the albums chronologically and we'll enjoy hundreds of truly rare and off-beat
photos of the Beatles and their contemporaries. We'll sample the rarely heard songs they wrote for
other artists, and we'll go over the back-story of their own hit songs, culturally as well as musically.
The second week we'll begin with Revolver, when innovation really became central to the band's
record releases. Dozens of behind-the-scenes anecdotes will breathe life
into the usual superficial accounts of the Beatles' career.
This program is free and open to the public.
