Bloomsday is an international celebration of the life and work of author
James Joyce. We celebrate on June 16, the day depicted in his novel
Ulysses.

The celebration will include
readings, musical performances, film showings, discussions,
and refreshments.
Please join us for the following schedule of events:

Bob DelBene – A short introduction: What is It, About Reading Ulysses?
David Murphy (Adj. Prof. ACCC) – Shares with us his rendition of Ulysses’
opening scene, Stephen Dedalus and Buck Mulligan atop the Martello Tower.
Charlotte Josephs (Lifelong Ventnor-ite, mother of Hall of Fame Tenor
Guitarist, Mark Josephs) – Recreates the Old Mother Grogan scene: the
milkwoman, delivering the morning’s milk.
Donna Josephs (Enthusiast, Organizer, Flight Attendant) – Introduces us to
Mr. Leopold Bloom, who ate with relish the inner organs of beasts and fowls.
Bonnie Sweeder – Enacts the episode about M’Coy, the pesky intruder.
David I. Daniels – Shares the results of his many years studying the genesis
of Joyce’s masterpiece with: “The Making of Ulysses”.
Ceol Binn – Stephanie Sussmeier (harp) and Leslie Clarke (guitar, vocals)
beautifully evoke Ireland’s history and culture.
Joe Guida – Recreates the role of D.B. Murphy, the battered sailor who’s
been everywhere and seen more things than could fill a book.
Rich Russell (Asst. Prof. Eng., ACCC) – Reads and comments upon the
scene with Bloom in the funeral carriage.
Georgina Shanley – Shares the experiences and the insights she acquired
growing up in Duleek, Ireland, a village established in the 5th century.
Will Shanken (psychiatrist and psychoanalyst) – Explores and entertains with
his perspectives on “Ulysses and the Unconscious”.
Joe Sosnowky (with family members Ginny and Gerri) – Recreates Bloom’s
encounter with former romantic interest, Josie Breen.
Bud Cole (poet) and Camille Sailer (traveler, adventurer) – Enact the
confrontation between Simon Dedalus and his cheeky daughter, Dilly, outside
Dillon’s auction rooms.
