James Joyce. We celebrate on June 16, the day depicted in his novel

Please join us for the following schedule of events:
Bob DelBene – A short introduction: What is It, About Reading Ulysses?
David Murphy (Adj. Prof. ACCC) – Shares with us his rendition of Ulysses’
opening scene, Stephen Dedalus and Buck Mulligan atop the Martello Tower.
Charlotte Josephs (Lifelong Ventnor-ite, mother of Hall of Fame Tenor
Guitarist, Mark Josephs) – Recreates the Old Mother Grogan scene: the
milkwoman, delivering the morning’s milk.
Donna Josephs (Enthusiast, Organizer, Flight Attendant) – Introduces us to
Mr. Leopold Bloom, who ate with relish the inner organs of beasts and fowls.
Bonnie Sweeder – Enacts the episode about M’Coy, the pesky intruder.
David I. Daniels – Shares the results of his many years studying the genesis
of Joyce’s masterpiece with: “The Making of Ulysses”.
Ceol Binn – Stephanie Sussmeier (harp) and Leslie Clarke (guitar, vocals)
beautifully evoke Ireland’s history and culture.
Joe Guida – Recreates the role of D.B. Murphy, the battered sailor who’s
been everywhere and seen more things than could fill a book.
Rich Russell (Asst. Prof. Eng., ACCC) – Reads and comments upon the
scene with Bloom in the funeral carriage.
Georgina Shanley – Shares the experiences and the insights she acquired
growing up in Duleek, Ireland, a village established in the 5th century.
Will Shanken (psychiatrist and psychoanalyst) – Explores and entertains with
his perspectives on “Ulysses and the Unconscious”.
Joe Sosnowky (with family members Ginny and Gerri) – Recreates Bloom’s
encounter with former romantic interest, Josie Breen.
Bud Cole (poet) and Camille Sailer (traveler, adventurer) – Enact the
confrontation between Simon Dedalus and his cheeky daughter, Dilly, outside
Dillon’s auction rooms.
Jackie Shelley – Reads a lovely excerpt from Molly Bloom’s wee-hour
