Dr. Cal Newport

“Quit Social Media”

Our TED talk on Saturday, 11/25/17, is by Dr. Cal Newport,  computer science professor at Georgetown University, entitled, “Quit Social Media”, in which he discusses the very real negatives that have been proven for those who are addicted to social media and the costs of using social media to the users such as increased depression and anxiety.  His contrarian ideas on building a successful, meaningful life have been featured on TV, radio, and in many major publications, including the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, and New York Post.

Dr. Newport is the author of five books, including “Deep Work:  Rules for focused success in a distracted world”.

TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the TED talks feature experts in a variety of fields who present unique ways of looking at their respective fields of expertise.

Everyone is welcome to these free sessions.

A discussion will take place after the lecture.
