Join the Library for a special documentary screening of Doubting Thomas

This is the true and uplifting story of Thomas Collier, how he survived  catastrophic brain injuries.

In 1981, an aspiring Duke medical student, Thomas, was nearly killed in a horrific automobile accident in New Hampshire, crushing the right side of his head and brain. Doctors at the local hospital refused to treat him, saying, “He is too far gone, let him die with
dignity."

Left to die in the hospital hallway, Thomas' friend smashed a fired alarm that started a sequence of events which sent Thomas to a trauma hospital where one brilliant, daring, and innovative surgeon took a chance on him.

These life saving measures initiated a series of “little miracles” that instilled hope in times of great doubt.
This historic medical case has dramatically transformed lives, medicine and neuroscience as we know it today.
