Michael Kimmel

“Why gender equality is good for everyone—Men included”


Michael, a Sociologist, is among the leading researchers and writers on men and masculinity in the world.  He's the executive director of the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinities at Stony Brook University, where he is also Distinguished University Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies.

Michael is the author of many books, including Manhood in AmericaAngry White Men, and the best seller Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men. An activist for gender equality for more than 30 years, he was recently called "the world's preeminent male feminist" by the Guardian.


TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the TED talks feature experts in a variety of fields who present unique ways of looking at their respective fields of expertise.
