“Why you should be a climate activist”
Our next TED talk is a dire warning to humanity, entitled, “Why you should be a climate activist”, by Luisa Neubauer. "I dream of a world where geography classes teach about the climate crisis as this one great challenge that was won by people like you and me," says climate activist Luisa. With Greta Thunberg, Luisa helped initiate "Fridays For Future," the momentous international school strike movement that protests the lack of action on the climate crisis. She shares four first steps that anyone, regardless of age, can take to become a climate activist. "This is not a job for a single generation. This is a job for humanity," she says.
This talk was presented to a local audience at TEDxYouth@München, an independent event, in July 2019 and has already garnered over 1.6 million views. TED's editors chose to feature it on the TED website, something quite unusual for the TED editors to do for a local TEDx talk..
This talk was selected by Len Smith, our longest serving moderator, because in 2100 his youngest grandchild who now is 9 weeks old, will be 81, only 6 years older than Len is now. And he would like to leave a better future for all of today’s children, including all of his 7 grandchildren.
We hope you will join Len and the other “TEDdies” as he calls them for this VERY timely talk.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design, and the TED talks feature experts in a variety of fields who present unique ways of looking at their respective fields of expertise.
Everyone is welcome to these free sessions.
A discussion will take place after the lecture.
