Printable Version - Classic Film Night

July 21, 2014 (6:00 PM - 9:00 PM)

A film that opened in 1952 and became an instant classic.  Directed by Fred Zinneman it is the story of an Hawaiian army base just prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor.  The focus is on three soldiers.  They are Montgomery Clift, the new transfer to the base, Frank Sinatra, a wise guy loudmouth who stirs up trouble, and Burt Lancaster, a love torn sergeant.  The beach scene between Lancaster and Deborah Kerr was especially daring for it’s time.  Nominated for an amazing 13 Oscars, the film won 8.  Winners included Zinneman, Sinatra, and Donna Reed.
