Provide food for member agencies.
The Community Food Bank of N.J., Southern Branch, is a certified member of
Second Harvest, the national network of food banks. We receive large
donations of food from industry. The food donors are entitled to a tax
deduction. C.F.B. then distributes donated food to local private nonprofit
501(C) 3 organizations (such as soup kitchens, shelters, emergency food
pantries, childcare centers, senior citizen centers and summer camps). Also
to churches that feed the needy.
Food is distributed by the case for .14 per pound handling fee. It is
distributed to food bank member charitable agencies by appointment only. The
main office in Hillside, NJ, and the United Way of Atlantic, Cumberland and
Cape May Counties supports the C.F.B.
Clients may call for information about their local food pantries.
