Support and information on muscular dystrophy.
The Muscular Dystrophy Association is fighting 40 neuromuscular diseases
through worldwide research. It is a nationwide network of clinics providing
comprehensive medical services, and far-reaching professional and public
health education.
Upon referral by a physician, the individual is registered with the
Association and is eligible for programs, including: financial assistance
with the purchase and repair of wheelchairs and orthopedic braces; low cost
or free outpatient medical follow-up care; an annual physical, occupational,
and respiratory therapy evaluation; recreational and social activities
including a one week summer camp for youths age 6-12 and support groups for
clients, families and friends. All authorized services are provided at no
cost to the registered individual (having one of the 40 neuromuscular
diseases MDA covers).
