Email Reference Service

Have a quick question but don’t feel like talking on the phone?  Whether you’re doing genealogy research or looking up articles for a literature paper – starting March 1st, you can now email your questions to the Reference staff at the Ocean City Free Public Library at reference@oceancitylibrary.org. 

Now, no matter what time of day, you can expect a prompt and thorough response from a trained professional for any and all of your information needs.  If you choose to take advantage of this great service, please provide your name, phone number where you can be reached, as well as a detailed description of your question.  Where appropriate, Reference staff will send pertinent attachments, relevant links to websites, or a brief answer to all questions.  All responses and attachments will be scanned with antivirus software to ensure that no viruses are spread to your email account.  Please note that for liability reasons, the Reference staff does not have capacity to perform extensive legal, corporate or medical research for patrons. 

Please be advised that response time may vary from 1 to 48 hours.  Also note that this service is meant for serious or research-based questions – Reference staff will not renew or hold materials for patrons.
