Come hear the basics of Saving & Investing from Suzanne McGovern from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Investor Education and Advocacy. Learn about stocks, bonds, mutual funds and investment strategies including asset allocation and diversification.  The SEC has many great resources for you wherever you are on your financial journey.

Suzanne McGovern is a Senior Advisor in the Office of Investor Education and Advocacy at the Securities and Exchange Commission. She has been with the agency for 16 years, most recently as an Assistant Director of the Broker-Dealer Exam Program in the Office of Compliance, Inspections and Examinations, responsible for examining broker dealers, investment advisers and other market participants. She led a team in creating an exam program for Municipal Advisor, required under Dodd Frank. She was also responsible for agency wide initiatives to protect Senior Investors, coordinated focus on anti-money laundering issues, the ETF market, among others.

Suzanne came to the Commission with years of experience in the securities industry that includes management, compliance, operations, trading and sales. She has held several securities licenses including the Series 3 (commodities), Series 7(broker), Series 8/9(management), Series 63(all state) and Series 65 (investment advisor). Suzanne graduated from Denison University with a B.A. in Economics and has been the recipient of several awards at the SEC, including the Law and Policy Award, Excellence in Leadership and two Chairman’s Award for Excellence.
