Spring Concert-Matt Richards Electric Trio

Sunday, May 21 2pm
Matt Richards Electric Trio
The music of guitarist Matt Richards doesn't always fit easily into a single category. His solo acoustic performances bring jazz, world and classical influences together to craft a very unique musical identity. With his trio Matt explores modern jazz as an energized, interactive music that resonates with sophistication. His composing and musical production work enable him to explore a wealth of ideas beyond the guitar.
Matt has been featured in major festivals and programs such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Lewiston Jazz Festival, NAMM Winter and Summer Shows and the One Month Festival of South Korea. He has worked onstage and in the studio with a range of artists, including Mike Clark, Larry Coryell, Joey DeFrancesco, Kenwood Dennard, Elio Villafranca, and Bobby Zankel. Matt has played in support for artists such as Paco Pena, Peppino D'Agostino, Phil Keaggy, Richie Havens and Dave Mason.
Matt produced and released his sixth album Power Trio Project in 2021 and is involved with trio, solo and collaborative musical projects for 2023. He has been active in music education for more than 30 years, working with private students as well as in workshops and masterclasses.
