The History of Rock & Roll starts as a uniquely exciting American phenomenon based upon racial, cultural, geographical, and technological changes that happened in the first half of the 20th Century.  

In this virtual talk, illustrated with photos and musical clips, Paul Groom will cover the development of Rock & Roll. He will highlight the Mississippi Delta Blues, the rise of performers such as Bill Haley and Elvis Presley, the commercialization of new music, and the rise of music radio and later TV. 

The Second World War meant an end to American Isolationism. Various cultural influences would come from the UK, including Rock & Roll and the Beatles-led British Invasion with its energy, creativity, resounding success, and lasting impact.
