Toddler Time (for ages 2-3) Tuesdays at 10:30 am from January 5th through May 18th

Rhythm & Rhymes (for ages birth - 2) Wedesdays at 10:30 am from January 20th through May 5th

Preschool Storytime (for ages 3-5) Fridays at 10:30 am from January 8th through May 21st

**There will be no programs the week of April 5th - 9th.

What: A program that encourages families to read 1,000 books to their child before they enter kindergarten.

Who: Any child from birth until they enter kindergarten are eligible to register.

How: Register at the Ocean City Free Public Library and receive your first record sheet.  Bring this back to the library as you reach the reward milestones to collect your reward and receive your next record sheet.

Why: Reading books to young children builds language and other early literacy skills.  Reading books together also creates a special bonding time between children and their parents / caregivers. bonding time with parents and caregivers.


What happens if we read the same book multiple times?

Every time a book is read to the child it counts!  If you read one book ten times, then it counts for ten books.

How long will it take to reach 1,000 books?
The program is self-paced, so it depends on how often you read with your child.  If you read 3 books a day, it will take under a year to  reach the 1,000 book goal.  If you read one book a day, it will take just under 3 years.

Online Resources for Children

An online collection of children’s ebooks, including animated picture books, read-along chapter books, non-fiction books, and graphic novels. Children may also listen/read to books in Spanish and French. There is also a TumbleBooks app which is freely available for Apple iOS and Android devices.
A database designed specifically for children in grades K-3 with informational articles written for beginning readers. PebbleGo includes interactive lessons, activities, and games which reinforce learning. Articles are also accessible in Spanish.
Scholastic Teachables
A database filled with thousands of resources which can be printed or downloaded for children in grades PreK-8. Scholastic Teachables is searchable by grade level, subject, and/or theme.
World Book Online
Online resources for a variety of ages. Early Learning World Book is geared towards children in preschool, and includes videos, games, stories, and activities. World Book Kids contains a variety of learning activities designed for primary school-aged children. World Book Student is aimed for upper elementary to middle school students and includes thousands of articles and multimedia.
