How: Register at the Ocean City Free Public Library and receive your first record sheet.  Bring this back to the library as you reach the reward milestones to collect your reward and receive your next record sheet.

Why: Reading books to young children builds language and other early literacy skills.  Reading books together also creates a special bonding time between children and their parents / caregivers. bonding time with parents and caregivers.

FAQs

What happens if we read the same book multiple times?

Every time a book is read to the child it counts!  If you read one book ten times, then it counts for ten books.

How long will it take to reach 1,000 books?
The program is self-paced, so it depends on how often you read with your child.  If you read 3 books a day, it will take under a year to  reach the 1,000 book goal.  If you read one book a day, it will take just under 3 years.
